Direct billing is three web storefronts — 1password.com in USD, 1password.ca in CAD, 1password.eu in EUR — and they convert to roughly the same dollars. The Canada win is an App Store in-app quirk, not a 1Password sale. That three-site story would be false on a vendor that prices a different web sticker per country. Which country is cheapest for 1Password?
Canada is cheapest for 1Password Individual at $4.32 versus $4.99 in the US, dated Aug 29, 2026.
The whole Canada-to-US spread is about 67 cents. Pakistan is PKR 1,300 / $4.69. Turkey is ₺229.99 / $4.80. Neither is a second Canada. Poland is the expensive end at zł29.99 / $8.05. The UK is £4.99 / $6.76, which is above the US, so the usual “Europe undercuts America” guess is backwards for this vault.
Why do 1password.com, .ca, and .eu charge almost the same?
Because AgileBits does not run a Netflix-style country menu on the web. You land on .com, .ca, or .eu, you pick a currency, and the dollars come out close. An Egyptian customer on .com is not handed a secret Cairo web rate.
The only place Individual actually moves country-to-country is inside Apple’s storefronts, where 1Password publishes a local in-app price. That is the rank on this page. If you already pay 1Password on the website, hunting Canada for 67 cents does not apply to your invoice.
The March 27, 2026 consumer hike is the bigger 1Password-only number: Individual yearly went $35.88 → $47.88. That is AgileBits billing. It is not Apple quietly shrinking the Canada in-app cell, and it is not a new .eu sale.
Does a Toronto VPN change the 1Password Individual price?
No. A Toronto IP does not pick 1password.ca, and it does not rewrite a US Apple ID into Canada.
On the website there is almost nothing for an IP change to do: the three storefronts already convert to roughly the same dollars, and PayPal is not sitting there as a fourth door. On iPhone, Individual follows the Apple ID country and the payment method on that ID. A Canadian VPN on a US Apple ID still shows $4.99. The IP is not the vault’s billing country: does a VPN make subscriptions cheaper.
How do I actually pay?
Two wallets. Do not mix them.
On 1password.com: cards. The US .com checkout also takes a US bank account or a 1Password gift card. PayPal is not offered. That is AgileBits checkout, not Apple.

What happens to the vault if Apple or 1Password closes the login?
You are not looking at a lost playlist. The vault is the keys to everything else you own. A closed 1Password account, or an Apple ID you no longer control, is a lockout problem, not a cheaper-subscription anecdote.
1Password’s terms can still close an account it thinks abused regional pricing. Apple can lock an ID that hops storefronts with a fabricated address. Neither outcome is a criminal case. Both are how you lose the login that holds the bank, the mail, and the work SSO.
Do not run this experiment on the vault you cannot replace. Do not buy a shared 1Password login; those get recycled and take your items with them. If you still change how Individual is billed, read the currency on the sheet. If it is not Canadian dollars on the Apple path, you are not buying the Canada cell.
