Canva Pro in India costs Rs 500 per month, or Rs 4,000 billed annually — which works out to roughly Rs 333 a month on the yearly plan. Both figures come straight from the India App Store listing (the same source feeding our price data), re-checked on 29 Aug 2026. Converted on our 29 Aug 2026 data pull, the monthly price is $5.22 in USD terms — about 65% below the $14.99 US price. Canva prices India in rupees deliberately, and the result is one of the steeper regional discounts among major design tools.
This page answers the questions people actually ask about that pricing. The full country-by-country comparison lives on the live Canva price page for India and the wider Canva Pro price by country table — this guide explains how India’s pricing works rather than repeating the rankings.
What Canva Pro actually costs in India
| Billing | Price (INR) | Per-month equivalent | Approx. USD |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | Rs 500 | Rs 500 | ~$5.22 |
| Yearly | Rs 4,000 | ~Rs 333 | ~$42/year |
| US monthly, for reference | $14.99 (~Rs 1,300) | $14.99 | $14.99 |
The yearly-vs-monthly spread matters more here than in most countries. Paying month to month costs Rs 6,000 across a year; annual billing cuts that to Rs 4,000 — a 33% saving. If Canva is part of your routine at all, monthly-only billing is simply overpaying.
One honest caveat: Canva’s own pricing page renders prices dynamically, so third-party articles quote wildly different rupee figures (we saw everything from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,500 a year while researching). Our numbers come from the India App Store storefront, which lists Canva Pro at Rs 500 monthly and Rs 4,000 yearly, and match our verified price table dated 29 Aug 2026. Your checkout screen remains the final word.
Why India’s price is so much lower
Purchasing power, again. A $14.99 subscription is trivial in the US and unrealistic for most Indian incomes, so Canva sets a rupee-denominated price for the Indian market instead of converting dollars. It also faces enormous volume potential: hundreds of millions of students, creators, and small businesses who will pick a tool priced for them over one priced for someone else. We unpack the general mechanism in why everything is cheaper in India.
What the free tier actually covers
Canva Free is genuinely usable, not a crippled demo — unlimited designs, thousands of templates, basic export. What it locks:
- Background Remover (Pro-only, and the single most-missed feature)
- Premium templates, photos, audio, and video
- Brand Kits and magic resize
- Most Magic Studio AI features
The honest test: use free for two weeks of real work. If nothing you need stays greyed out, you do not need Pro yet.
Students and teachers: the free route, with a catch
There is no coupon-style student discount for Canva Pro. What exists instead is Canva Education — completely free — but only for K-12 (primary and secondary) teachers and their invited students, worldwide, verified against Canva’s own eligibility rules in August 2026. College and university students are explicitly excluded and pointed at Canva Campus, which their institution has to buy into. If neither applies to you, India’s regional pricing is the legitimate fallback — and at Rs 500 a month it is already one of the better rates globally. Full eligibility details, verification steps, and the licensing limits are in our Canva student discount explainer.
How do I actually pay from India?
Three realistic routes:
- Indian debit or credit card on canva.com — Visa, Mastercard, RuPay-enabled cards issued in India all work at the web checkout. This bills in INR directly with Canva and keeps everything in one place.
- App Store (iOS) — subscribe in-app and the charge draws from your Indian Apple ID via card or Apple ID balance. This is the storefront behind our verified Rs 500 figure.
- Google Play (Android) — same idea; whatever payment methods your Play account carries, including carrier billing if your operator supports it.
What we cannot vouch for: UPI. Some services route Indian web payments through gateways that accept UPI, but we have not confirmed it on Canva’s checkout, so do not count on it until you see it offered. Cards are the reliable path.
And the account-country point, stated plainly: these prices apply when your Canva account is registered in India and billed there. Signing up from India with an Indian card gets you there cleanly. A VPN does not migrate an existing foreign account onto Indian billing — the account keeps its original currency and price regardless of where you browse from.
Quick recap
Canva Pro in India is Rs 500 a month or Rs 4,000 a year — take the yearly plan unless you genuinely might stop next month. The free tier is worth testing first. K-12 teachers should claim Canva Education instead of paying anything. And every figure on this page was verified in August 2026; prices move, so confirm at checkout.
