Can I use a VPN to get cheaper Spotify?
No. A Lagos exit does not write ₦1,600 onto a US card, and it does not mint naira on a California Spotify account.
Spotify bills the account country and wants a payment method issued there. Support pages and years of checkout errors say the same thing: the card country and the account country have to match. In September 2025 the terms caught up with the payment wall — accounts must be created where you live, priced at that rate, with an explicit clause against using a VPN to get another region’s price. How do I actually pay for Spotify Individual in Nigeria?
If you already live in Nigeria, pay on spotify.com with a method that storefront accepts. Local cards cleared on every Individual row we dated. Country rails such as iDEAL or Mercado Pago appear on the premium page when they apply. PayPal is only in some countries.

A new account starts empty. Transfer tools can move playlist tracks. They do not automatically carry followers or Wrapped. Spotify has said a VPN alone does not trigger a ban. The September 2025 terms still give it grounds to act on residency mismatch, and enforcement usually arrives as a payment failure first. Gray-market activated accounts and foreign billing-address reshippers break those terms as now written. Do not experiment on the login holding years of playlists. Do not buy a shared Premium account.
