Yes — versus the US. Turkey Individual is ₺99 / $2.07 against $12.99, dated 29 Aug 2026. About 84% less. Nigeria is cheaper still at ₦1,600 / $1.18. The useful half: since September 2025, Spotify expects a payment method issued in the account country. A VPN plus a US Visa is not that.

What the September 2025 terms actually say
Spotify ties the account to country of residence, not to this morning’s server. When you move, you update country and pay with a method issued in the new country. Enforcement shows up at renewal more often than at first signup.
A VPN by itself was never the ban trigger. Misrepresenting residency to buy a market’s price is.
What paying like a Turkey customer requires now
| What you bring | Result at Turkish checkout |
|---|---|
| Turkish bank card | The intended path |
| Ininal prepaid | The path non-residents still document |
| New Ozan card | Frozen company — skip it |
| Foreign card | Typically rejected at checkout or at renewal |
| Spotify gift card | Discontinued |
| Play or Apple balance from another country | Wrong wallet for this website merchant |

Why competitor guides still recommend 2023
- Gift cards are gone. Marketplace “Turkish Spotify codes” are leftovers or fiction.
- Fake addresses fail at renewal, when the card BIN and account country disagree.
- Stale lira. Posts that still lead with a pre-hike TRY sticker are not dating ₺99.
Risk, stated plainly
Reported outcomes: re-price to your real country, drop to Free until a matching card exists, or — rarely — close the account. Experiment on a throwaway email. Playlists usually survive a region change; tracks grey out: can I keep Spotify playlists when changing country?.
Is Turkey even the right target?

Netflix Turkey Standard is ₺289.99 ($6.05) versus India Standard ₹499 ($5.21) — different rank, different merchant.
