Perplexity’s student path is Education Pro, verified through SheerID. It is not a free year for anyone with a .edu address. The Back to School giveaway expired in early 2026. The PayPal/Venmo Comet bundle died 31 Dec 2025.
We have not dated a student USD next to Perplexity Pro country cells. Country Pro ranks live on cheapest country for Perplexity Pro. This URL is the enrollment gate, not a second price board.
What expired, what remains
Expired: 12 free months to a .edu inbox. Expired: PayPal/Venmo year-plus-Comet. Live: Education Pro after SheerID. Perplexity’s plan page lists students and educators. A teaching assistant with faculty status uses the same check as an undergraduate.
Comet, Perplexity’s AI browser, has been bundled as a bonus. Treat it as promotional. It is not why this page exists, and it is not ChatGPT.
SheerID, not a coupon code
- Create a Perplexity account — personal email is allowed.
- Upgrade → Education → verify as student (or educator).
- SheerID matches enrollment at partner schools.
- The discounted plan applies to that account.
Spotify Student also uses SheerID, then re-checks every 12 months for four years. Perplexity has not published a four-year cap the same way. If a later SheerID re-check fails, expect a drop to standard Pro — not a silent Netflix-style ads tier, because Perplexity does not sell ads-tier search.
Do not paste OpenAI’s “gift cards fail Plus” onto this page as the whole story. Perplexity billing is Perplexity. Plus gift cards still fail OpenAI. Those are different merchants.
If SheerID flags a VPN you are not using, that is their false positive, not a tunnel recipe. Clear cache. Do not hop networks mid-form.
