Cancelling Canva Pro is a web-settings job: log in at canva.com, open Account Settings → Billing & plans → your plan → Cancel subscription, then confirm. Checked against Canva’s own help center in August 2026. The plan keeps running until the end of the period you already paid for, then drops to Canva Free. Your designs survive. Your money usually does not come back — refunds are handled case by case, not promised.
Where the cancel button actually lives
- Open canva.com in a browser (a phone browser works) and log in.
- Click your profile icon → Account Settings (or Settings).
- Open the Billing & plans section.
- Select your subscription and click Cancel subscription / Cancel plan, then click through whatever retention screens appear.
Two traps worth naming:
- Deleting the app or your account stops nothing. Billing continues until you cancel properly; deleting the whole account is a different, more destructive process.
- Store-billed plans are invisible to this flow. If you subscribed inside the iOS or Android app, Apple or Google owns the renewal. Cancel in iPhone Settings → Subscriptions, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions. A quick way to tell who bills you: the charge descriptor on your bank statement.
If you are on a Canva Teams plan, only the team owner (or an admin) can cancel, and everyone loses Pro when the term ends — members cannot end the plan themselves.
What happens when the paid period ends
| Feature | Until period end | After drop to Free |
|---|---|---|
| Pro templates, fonts, Brand Kit | Full access | Locked |
| Downloads with Pro elements | Clean | Watermarked / blocked |
| Your saved designs | Intact | Intact |
| Magic Studio AI tools | Included | Limited or gone |
The practical takeaway: do a final export pass of anything Pro-heavy before the end date. Re-downloading later means paying again or redesigning around the watermark.
Timing: the renewal date is the deadline
Canva plans renew automatically, and the renewal charge lands on your billing date. Cancelling one day late means you have bought another full month or year — annual renewals are the expensive version of this mistake, and consumer complaint boards are full of people charged for a year they did not notice coming. Find your exact renewal date under Billing & plans, and set a reminder three to five days ahead if you are undecided. This is the same defense we recommend everywhere else: the auto-renewal trap.
Refunds: a request, not a policy
Canva’s help center describes refunds as handled per case through support, which in practice means mischarges, accidental double-billing, and quick post-renewal cancellations have the best odds. “I forgot to cancel” occasionally works if you ask within hours; weeks later it will not. If Apple or Google billed you, route the request through them — reportaproblem.apple.com for Apple, Play’s order history for Google — because Canva cannot reverse a store transaction.
Before you cancel: the cheaper paths
- Downgrade instead of leaving. Canva Free keeps every design and covers light usage.
- Check whether you qualify for the education rate. Verified K-12 teachers and eligible students get Pro free — see Canva’s student discount for the verification mechanics.
- Know what Pro should cost. Our dated checks put US Pro at $14.99/month (verified 29 August 2026), with Nigeria at about $4.07 and Philippines at $16.16 — the spread is huge, and the full ranking is at Canva prices by country.
Price sourcing and verification method: methodology.
