Can I buy Spotify Premium in the iPhone app?

In the US, as of the May 2025 app update, the app shows prices and a link out to spotify.com. The purchase still happens on the web at the same Individual price. In most other regions you subscribe in a browser from the start.

So is Spotify more expensive on iPhone?

No. Spotify never sold a marked-up Apple-billed Individual tier the way YouTube still does. The only people who can still pay an Apple-billed Spotify price are legacy subscribers from before the pull-out.

I pay Spotify through Apple. How do I stop?

What changed in 2025 — the link-out, not a second price

March 2024: the European Commission fined Apple over anti-steering rules in the case Spotify filed in 2019.
April–May 2025: a US court order forced Apple to allow external purchase links. Apple approved a Spotify US app update (reported 2 May 2025) that shows pricing and links out of the app.

The in-app link opens the same spotify.com checkout at the same list price. Spotify never re-introduced a marked-up Apple-billed Individual tier. Older articles that say “you cannot subscribe from the iPhone app” are half-stale in the US — the app shows the door, and the door is still the web price.

Day to day

The iOS app is a player. Plan changes and payment updates happen at spotify.com. You cannot manage new Spotify billing from iOS Settings.
